2022 Ulverstone

Ulverstone 2020/2021 was a great success.  Eventual starters were Tom and Val Houldsworth, Knocker and Marilyn Whyte, Bongo and JoAnne DiBetta, Rick and Lea Avery, Bryan and Kay Stapley, Russ and Joy Dale and Ron Giveen.  Did receive phone calls/messages from Hector Hart, Rod Hazell, Roger Collins and Russ Loane.

The reduced numbers did not reduce the fun of the event, to the contrary it gave us all a lot more opportunity to spend quality time with all those who did turn up.   There was a joke made that we should restrict the functions to 15.   We had good company, good food, good wine, good fun and a definite sense of camaraderie.  The three functions were enjoyed by all, I was lucky to have my nephew Dave and his wife Flick and family join us on the Saturday night and Sunday BBQ at SHROPSHIRE Park.  In fact Dave provided and did the cooking on his BBQ with a lot of other preparation done by Flick.

Stoney Bourke, the behind the scenes organiser of the venues turned up for the Sunday BBQ, again it was marvellous to catch up with an old mate and express our gratitude for his very helpful information and participation.

On Friday Tom Houldsworth, Knocker and I caught up and had a cup of tea with Brent and Sue Balchin in their home in Launceston.  Brent is looking pretty good for someone who was involved in an accident with a bus and survived despite having to mend most organs and bones.  Brent is still pursuing his hobby of taking photos and making them look like oil or water colour paintings which he does with great success.

On Monday I stopped over to say G’day and see Lorraine Dobbie. Lorraine amongst other discussions, helped with Ken’s Naval career details which we need to produce the eulogy and the Dedication Plaque.

Bongo was the organiser.  This was his plan which worked.

Bongo has put this programme together for Ulverstone.
