Adelaide Reunion October 2015
Adelaide Reunion October 2015
OCTOBER 2015 REUNION
JUST A GENTLE REMINDER FOR THOSE ATTENDEES THAT STILL REQUIRE MOTEL ACCOMMODATION.
We have provided a selection of Motels located in the Glenelg Precinct ranging from 5 Star through to good value 3 Star accommodation on our Website.
All the accommodation selected is located within a short stroll to transport, eateries and the Glenelg Foreshore.
Glenelg is adjacent to the Adelaide International Airport and a Taxi will set you back around $20.
Most of the Glenelg Motels rely very much on Tourism particularly during the “out of school holiday'' periods such as October and as such offer some great weekend packages.
Glenelg is only about 30 minutes by Tram to the City and is inexpensive to travel (free for those on a Concession Card) and run every 15 minutes.
For those who have not as yet firmed up accommodation it would be prudent to do so sooner rather than later in order to obtain a weekend package.
The Motels are again listed below for your consideration.

2) Venue allocation.
Nev Thomas and Bob Stupple reported they have visited the race course and Morphettville Junction venues.
The Watermark at Glenelg was also suggested as a late option. The 'greenies' recently held a reunion there and first hand reports suggested it was a great success.
On discussion, it was agreed 'The Junction' is the preferred venue for Friday and Saturday. It was also agreed the Marion RSL would be the venue for a farewell BBQ lunch on the Sunday and for those interested, social (barefoot) lawn bowls would be available on the Sunday morning.

3) Target Costs.
Confirmed as previously agreed. Target remains approx. $130-150/head for 2 events at The Junction. The costs for the musician(s) will be on top. With inflation, the figure might peak out a little higher.
Drinks will be over the bar at own cost in order to get a fair balance.
A small recoup for the group per head will recover some on going costs.
The BBQ lunch at the RSL would be separate, small cost, payable on the day.
Action: nil further pending confirmation of costs
The present options are:
Music by Barry Griffiths (1st intake ex JR), 'Kompressions'. A sample CD is being circulated. All present agreed the syle of music would probably suit most tastes. Quoted $500.
Action: The sampler is still being circulated
Music by the RAN SA Reserve band. This option remains open. Mick Gallagher is continuing to research. Contact via Paul Cottier.
Action: Mick Gallagher to report.
5) Recreational Activities, Local Accommodation & Tours
The group agreed with the target activities; Lawn Bowls, Port River Dolphin Cruise, Hahndorf bus trip will remain focus items. We will provide information packs sourced from local tourist service providers. We would like to promote SA fine wines; cuisine, brilliant heritage and great scenery for our mates to enjoy while visiting Adelaide, hopefully for a few extra days at least, either side of the reunion.
At this stage, there is no intention to run any kind of booking service on behalf of members.
Terry and Alley provided a good update. We will begin circulating information on preferred accommodation and discounts available early next year.
Action: Alley Coghlan (Motel Research) and Terry Dack (Caravan Parks) to source and collate/provide information.
6) Guest of Honour

Action: Terry Dack to coordinate and supply tags. Out of pocket expenses to be covered at end.

Please put these dates in your diary.
To this end we are asking for expressions of interest from those who, at this time, are planning on attending the Reunion.
We would also like those who cannot attend to also advise us by return email so we can be sure everyone has received this invitation
The weekend will consist of the following:

Sunday 25 October – Farewell BBQ
A Committee has been formed which is made up of mainly the South Australian members led by Nev (Nifty) Thomas.
