  • Dear Webmaster

    Please excuse the intrusion.

Are you able to put me in touch with Barry Quigley?

If so - and he wonders *what the heck** here is my reason for contacting you and hopefully Barrie:

A friend (Dr Ian Pfennigwerth Retired Naval Captain - drove DDG Perth) is writing a book covering the RAN from 1900 to 2014 - with particular emphasis on those who served (from which ever nation) and who were honoured by way of Imperial or Australian Honour.

Barrie Quigley is one such Navy Man - having been honoured with a BEM.

I am one of several beavers working for Ian.

The book (to be called Bravo Zulu) - hopes to tell the story of each man or woman so honoured.

Currently (and in the past for many) all one reads is **Chief Petty Officer Doolally - awarded the BEM for service to the RAN**. But that does not tell us much and Ian is keen to pay due respect to each recipient.

So - if Barrie is happy to help - we request the following:

    Date of Birth

    Place of Birth

    Date of Joining

    Official Number

Early career including promotions and ships and estabs

Supervisory career including promotions and ships and estabs

AND THEN THE HARD BIT. Could Barrie tell us what it was he did to have someone write him up for the Honour.

We fully appreciate that **Excellence is the starting point** - but ask him please to tell all.

    Sincerely

    Terry Feltham

(joined as a sparker in 61, commissioned in 72, resigned my commission in 84 - now fully retired except for Lions and RSL stuff)

As PNG took over Tarangau in 1975 I was wondering if anybody out there could point me inj the right direction as to who I would be best to cantact in this regard.

My Mother Glenice Hopgood [maiden name]has had these in her possession from approx 1947/48 and would like to know if Steve or his family would like these, or alternatively if they could be donated to the War Museum. She also has a Japanese headband that also belonged to Steve.....

  • Many Melbourne sailors are (rightly) taking on solicitor David Forster. I'm concerned though that Voyager sailors should not miss out - if they have had a claim lodged by forster then they need investigate a claims asap, as they may very well have been overcharged. Time is of the essence, they should contact each other and the regulators asap.

  • Hi,
Well another friendly get together at The Rockers yesterday. Irish O'Leary was over from Perth. There also was Springer(Col)Mundt, Tom Holdsworth, Tassie Mason and Jaffa Robinson. A few beers and and a bit of a chat before Irish was to head off on a Rock and Roll cruise. Somewhat different tol cruise Ship "Melbourne" or "Moresby" I'd reckon. I never thought that I'd take my wife Carol to the Rockers but there you go, Carol enjoyed the gathering. It's obviously a lot more cultured and theres's none of those raffles or the ticket sellers for that matter.
    Cheers, Jack

  • Hi,
Went to the dedications ceremony at Garden Island yesterday. A few beers at the Rockers afterwards. What a great day. Nice to remmber and and meet up with friends and meet some ones. Bernie Lawson's family was there from WA, and Larry Kent too. My wife Carol came along and Carol enjoyed the day to.
I enciourage you all to get along to a reunion large or small. It's a great time simply making friends and enjoying life. I'm now seeking out a couple of people I haven't seen in a while Lyndon Dean, and Peter Kirkman. Perhaps a few more of us could do that, find old mates.
Good to see you all again.

I see 'Evil' Sincock has been telling you all lies - nothing changes! Saw Peter and his wife a few months ago when I was down working in Adelaide. He looks well - for a young bloke! Have just seen the class photos of 7th Intake - would like to get a decent size photo of Nakina 1 Division - I am in the second row at the end. It is real hard to read though so if anyone has a better size photo I would like a copy emailed or posted to me. Drop me an email if you have one and I will be happy to pay the postage, etc. Am currently deployed in East Timor for six months, but the email system is fine. Good to see we are all still kicking along. Regards to all
